Rose McGowan Is Suing Harvey Weinstein And His Lawyers
Rose McGowan is gearing up to sue Harvey Weinstein and his ex-lawyers. McGowan previously went after Weinstein accusing him of sexually assaulting her. This helped spark the #metoo movement. Now it appears as if the actress is going after him again.
TMZ is reporting that Rose McGowan is suing him and his lawyers because “They conspired to smear her and discredit her rape allegations against the disgraced studio mogul.” They also add that in legal documents, McGowan points out, “This case is about a diabolical and illegal effort by one of America’s most powerful men and his representatives to silence sexual assault victims.”
McGowan claims that he and his lawyers stopped her memoir from being published; the memoir would include details about him raping her. She claims he had a team of “fixers” make sure her book wasn’t published, or if it was that no one would believe her.
She claims Weinstein and an international spy agency, Black Cube, worked to try to steal the unpublished book and buy her silence.
And, she also wants to address previous allegations that Weinstein had coke planted on her and before a 2017 arrest.
Weinstein’s lawyers replied to accusations and insist that he is innocent. “Once and for all, Rose McGowan will be shown to be what she is; a publicity seeker looking for money. From the moment she sought a multi-million dollar payout in return for not making these baseless allegations, which we rejected, we knew that she was waiting for an opportune time to begin this.” They add, “We will demonstrate that this case has no legal merit.”
