Proctor and Gamble, the Always parent company, has decided to remove the Venus symbol on their packaging for pads and pantyliners. This is being done because activists and allies feel the symbol alienates those who are transgender and non-binary.

In an announcement, Proctor and Gamble wrote, “For over 35 years Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so. We’re also committed to diversity & inclusion and are on a continual journey to understand the needs of all of our consumers.”

Just recently, a tweet to Always got attention for calling them out on their packaging. It reads, “Hi @Always I understand that you guys love girl positivity but please understand that there are trans men that get periods, and if you could please to something about the (Venus) symbol on your pad packaging, I’d be happy. I’d hate to have any trans males feel dysphoric.” Always responded to the tweet, saying they would share that person’s concerns with the team.
