UPDATE 08/27/29 11:45 PM ET: Kevin O’Leary has issued a statement regarding his involvement in a fatal boat accident in Canada over the weekend.

Per TMZ, O’Leary’s statement is as follows:

“Late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that had a tragic collision with another craft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene of the accident. I am fully cooperating with authorities. Out of respect for the families who have lost loved ones and to fully support the ongoing investigation, I feel it is inappropriate to make further comments at this time. My thoughts are with all the families affected.”

A rep for O’Leary says his wife was driving the boat during the time of the accident, and afterwards she was tested for a DUI and passed.

Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary has been named in a fatal boat accident in Canada over the weekend.

Per TMZ, O’Leary’s boat struck a larger boat late Saturday evening (August 24) that caused it to go over the larger boat’s bow and hitting a man in the head and killing him instantly. While O’Leary and his wife were identified on the boat, that detail still hasn’t been confirmed.

TMZ reached out to O’Leary for comment, but per police protocol, he’s not commenting on anything in the press. However, names involved in the accident will only be released if criminal charges are filed.
