Metallica Music Used to Scare Away Cougar (The Animal, Not the Woman)
Metallica just saved a woman’s life in a very unique way.
Dee Gallant was walking her dog, Murphy, near her home in British Columbia, Canada when they were approached by a roaming cougar.
Gallant told Kelowna Now, “I looked over to the right and there it was, I couldn’t make it out at first and thought ‘oh that is a strange color, that’s not a tree.’ It was crouched down, doing that kind of prowl, predator walk that they do — that was when I waved my arms and yelled ‘Hey, you stop!’ and it did.”
The cougar, however, still staring eerily at Gallant and Murphy, so she grabbed her phone and cued up some loud music in hopes of scaring it away. The song she chose? Metallica’s “Don’t Tread On Me” from 1991’s Metallica (“The Black Album”)
Of the song, Gallant said, “I thought it was the noisiest thing on my phone that would probably scare it, that was also the messaged I wanted to convey to the cougar…I would love to contact them someday and tell James Hetfield that he saved my life.”
Fingers crossed that meeting actually takes place!
