Would You Try Cricket Tacos?
Within Philadelphia, there is a vibrant, modern Mexican restaurant by the name of Taqueria Feliz offering not only their hospitality, but also cricket tacos.
Yes, that’s right. Cricket tacos.
Part of their dinner menu, Taqueria Feliz offers a “COMIDA LOCA” section. The only two items in this section are Cricket Tacos, as well as Chicken Skin Tacos. Just the skin, no chunks of meat.
Comida Loca literally translates to crazy food, which is a ‘spot-on’ description. Some might cringe and gag at the thought of eating bugs, but according to WebMD, eating crickets may help improve the natural bacteria in your gut and ultimately reduce inflammation in your body. Not too certain that’s enough to make you eat crickets, but we’ll leave that up to you to decide, you can tell us in the poll on this page.
If you’re willing to try the tacos, we’d recommend calling ahead and making sure the crickets are still in and not sold out. Believe it or not they go fast….because according to customers, they’re actually quite delicious. One of our listeners, Joe S. who has tried the tacos and brought them to our attention mentioned,
“I honestly forgot I was eating crickets until they started falling out of the taco and onto my plate…which I did end up eating anyways.”
