Delta allegedly tried to “trap” flight attendants on a May 12th flight from Atlanta to Toronto after a maintenance issue caused the flight to be delayed for over 3 1/2 hours. The airline was reportedly trying to prevent the attendants from walking off the plane after maxing out their weekly work hours. It’s legal for a flight attendant to walk off a plane once the max work hours are reached.
But operations crew sent out a message to the ground crew reading “do not open door; flight attendants out of time and none available.”
The flight attendants said they were happy to volunteer to work overtime but felt greatly disrespected by the operations crew. Delta reps say the attendants could have walked out anytime they pleased.
