The original cast of 90210 is officially returning for a reboot of the classic 90s teen drama, but this time with a twist.
FOX announced the 6-part series Thursday. The new drama, still carrying the name 90210 “is inspired by the cast’s real lives and relationships, combined with what it termed a ‘healthy dose of irreverence.'”
The cast will include original stars Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carter and Brian Austin Green. The cast also serve as executive producers on the show.
The series will focus on what happens when the cast, playing themselves, decides to reunite. “But getting it going may make for more drama than the reboot itself,” Variety reports.
Tori Spelling announced the reboot a few weeks ago on “Access Hollywood” before FOX confirmed this week. It is set to air this summer.
The original Beverly Hills, 90210 was one of the most successful series on FOX in the 1990s. It ran for ten years and spawned multiple spinoffs including Melrose Place and the CW’s remake of the show, 90210.
