A woman in China woke up one morning and couldn’t hear her boyfriend, panicked she went to the hospital where she was diagnosed with reverse-slope hearing loss. Thigpen Hearing Center says that reverse-slope hearing loss, where you can’t hear low tones such as men’s voices, is very rare with only 3,000 people living with the condition between the U.S. and Canada. The cause of the condition is unknown but fatigue, stress, genetics, and illness can all be factors with reverse-slope hearing loss. As you can imagine social media had a lot to say about not being able to hear men. The best comment, “…but how does she know what do with her uterus? Who’s there to question the accuracy what she says? WHO TAKES HER IDEAS IN MEETINGS?!” Although hearing loss isn’t a joking matter, what would you do if you couldn’t hear men?
