Bohemian Rhapsody’s success continues as the film sweeps the two categories in which it was nominated.

The Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic won the Golden Globe for “Best Motion Picture – Drama,” while Rami Malek took home the “Best Actor – Motion Picture – Drama” Golden Globe for his portrayal of Mercury.

During Malek’s acceptance speech, he took a moment to thank Brian May and Roger Taylor, who were in attendance, and, of course, Mercury by saying, “I love you, you beautiful man!  This is for, and because of you, gorgeous!”

While Malek was heavily favored in the “Best Actor – Motion Picture – Drama” category, Bohemian Rhapsody was a huge underdog in the “Best Motion Picture – Drama” category against the likes of Black Panther,
BlackKklansman, If Beale Street Could Talk and A Star Is Born.  Even producer Graham King seems surprised Bohemian Rhapsody won when he accepted the “Best Motion Picture – Drama” Golden Globe.

In years past, the Golden Globes can have an effect on the Academy Award nominations, which will be voted on beginning today (January 7.)  The 91st Annual Academy Award nominations will be announced on January 22, so Bohemian Rhapsody could potentially have more celebrating to do in the near future.
