Allman Brother Band founding guitarist Dickey Betts is currently in “critical, but stable condition” after falling on his property and sustaining a serious head injury.

Per the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Betts was in his backyard playing with his dog on Monday (September 17) when he slipped and cracked his head, which caused bleeding in his brain.  He is scheduled for brain surgery tomorrow (September 21) to reduce the swelling.

Betts’ wife, Donna, said to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, “The family appreciates all of your thoughts and prayers during this very trying time. Dickey is a notorious fighter and he is displaying that now.”

Our thoughts are with Betts and his family as he enters surgery, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
