The Biggest Scandals Of 2017
2017 was an, um, interesting year to say the least. While there were certainly some bright spots (Fiona the Hippo and Harry and Meghan’s engagement, anyone?) there were also moments that left us with our jaws hanging open. Here are some of the biggest pop culture scandals we saw this year:
Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct allegations
Sexual misconduct scandals rocked Hollywood and politics this year, and it kicked off with Harvey Weinstein after The New York Times and The New Yorker ran a report detailing years of his abuse. Throughout the course of the year, 84 women accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault.
Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi ad
Kendall Jenner was named a spokesperson for Pepsi, and one of her ads for the soft drink company was seriously misguided. It shows her trying to break up a protest using a can of Pepsi. The commercial took heat for trivializing the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as police brutality.

La La Land mistakenly named Best Picture
This year’s Oscars were about as shocking as it gets. La La Land was named Best Picture, but almost immediately it was announced that there was a mistake and Moonlight had actually won the prestigious award. Oops.
The Bachelor in Paradise investigation
Just as the newest season of Bachelor in Paradise was about to get underway, the show quickly shut down production due to a sexual misconduct investigation. Two characters we love to hate, Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson, were caught in the middle, with Olympios alleging that she was too drunk to consent to engage in sexual acts. Eventually, the situation was resolved and filming continued. Olympios and Jackson have since been spotted out together.

2017 certainly didn’t lack in shocking celebrity moments. From Bachelor Nation to awards shows, there was plenty of drama. We can’t even imagine what 2018 will bring!
