4 Of The Scariest Podcasts And Shows, Just In Time For Halloween
It’s finally pumpkin spice latte season, and you know what that means: Halloween is right around the corner.
If you’re looking for something a little creepy to get you ready as you pick out your costume and start deciding which candy you’ll hand out to trick-or-treaters, we think these perfectly eerie podcasts and shows should do just fine:
Up and Vanished
The podcast tells the true story of the disappearance of beauty queen-turned-teacher Tara Grinstead from the small town of Ocilla, Georgia in 2005. The case is a mysterious one and took 11 years to solve. Various suspects took heat, including her ex-boyfriend and a man she was rumored to be having an affair with. The podcast is a satisfying one because host Payne Lindsey wraps it up and reveals what really happened to Grinstead.
Mindhunter
This Netflix original series will give you the creeps. It’s from the director of Gone Girl and Fight Club, and it tells the story of two detectives who study the minds and techniques of serial killers and then use this information to educate police officers. It’s set during a time when the term “serial killer” was a new phrase, and it promises to be fascinatingly freaky. Check this show out on Netflix on October 13th.

In the Dark
On an October night in Minnesota, 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling was abducted at gunpoint. For 27 years, the case went unsolved. Finally, a known sex offender confessed, but not before another man spent years wrongfully accused of Jacob’s sexual assault and murder. In the Dark details what went wrong with the Wetterling case. Why did it take law enforcement so long to find Jacob’s killer? It’s a fascinating, informative, and creepy podcast worth a listen.
The Jinx
This HBO documentary will truly leave you with your mouth hanging open. It’s chilling, but it’s also shocking. It’s the story of accused murderer Robert Durst, who comes from a wealthy New York City family, and adamantly denies his involvement in the murders of which he’s been accused. Durst willingly agreed to be filmed and interviewed, and the final result is captivating.
We would definitely suggest diving into these shows and podcasts this weekend, but don’t blame us if you end up sleeping with the lights on.
