Masters of elegance, melodrama and symphonic grandeur, Within Temptation are not just one of the most distinctive and charismatic bands to emerge from the metal scene in recent times, but also one of European metal’s greatest success stories of the last decade. Formed in 1996 by guitarist Robert Westerholt and vocalist Sharon den Adel, ably assisted by bassist Jeroen van Veen, the Dutch quintet set out to create music that would strike a sublime balance between the bold, evocative sweep of cinema soundtracks and the brooding, gothic splendour of the finest dark-hued rock and metal of the modern age. A well-kept secret in the Netherlands for the first few years of their existence, the band exploded into the mainstream spotlight across Europe upon the release of their second album, Mother Earth, in 2000. Since then, they have gone from strength to strength selling in excess of 2.8 Million CDs & DVDs with releases in 48 countries, receiving 30 Gold and Platinum awards and 4 Export Awards of the Netherlands as well 2 MTV European Music Awards, 2 World Music Awards and many more. Within Temptation is sure to deliver a dazzling tour-de-force of a state-of-the-art hard rock concert gleaming with pop melodies, razor-sharp arrangements and powerful, shadow-shrouded atmospheres not to be missed.

Stone Sour, Skillet & Art of Dying

Electric Factory is proud to present Stone Sour with special guests Skillet & Art of Dying in concert on Wednesday, May 5th @ 8PM. The American rock band will perform at Electric Factory located at 421 N. 7th Street Philadelphia, PA. Tickets are $29.50 General Admission, $32 Day of Show and will be available this Saturday, April 9th @ 12PM at ElectricFactory.info, Ticketmaster, charge by phone at 800-745-3000, and The Electric Factory Box Office located at 421 N. 7th Street, Mon – Sat 12PM – 6PM.

Stone Sour, the triple-Grammy nominated group has been playing sold-out shows around the planet in support of 2006’s critically acclaimed Come What(ever) May, a sonic blockbuster that entered Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart at No. 4 and went on to sell more than a half-million copies on the strength of three radio hits, including the No. 1 smash single, "Through Glass.” Billboard hailed the record as “an intense, taut piece of work,” Alternative Press called the group “masters of ass-kicking,” adding,” In a better America, Stone Sour would be the face of American rock,” and Revolver magazine gave the disc four stars and praised the quintet for “demonstrating a dynamic range equaled by few of their peers.” Four years later, the quintet have returned with a broadened range, a deepened perspective and the determination to make new album Audio Secrecy a multi-layered record free of stylistic limitations.

Alternative CCM rockers Skillet formed in Memphis, TN, around the nucleus of lead singer and bassist John Cooper, guitarist Ken Steorts, and drummer Trey McClurkin. Debuting in 1996 with a self-titled LP, the trio returned two years later with Hey You, I Love Your Soul. Invincible followed in early 2000, and the group contributed three tracks to the Ardent Worship: Skillet Live compilation that same year. With a new lineup of Cooper on bass and lead vocals, his wife Korey Cooper on guitar and keyboards, Ben Kasica on guitar, and Lori Peters on drums, Skillet released Alien Youth on Ardent Records in 2001, followed by Collide, also on Ardent, in 2003. Collide went on to be the band's best-selling album to date (even earning them a Grammy nomination), and the band supported the record on tours with bands like Saliva and Shinedown.

AI&G 3rd Friday Events

The AI&G will hold the Opening Reception for the 2011 Photography Show and Digital Art Invitational on the 3rd Friday, April 15th from 5-7 pm.

Sponsored by Matice Interactive of Salisbury, The Photography Show will feature local and regional photography works in traditional photography, digital photography and other unique genres of photography. The Digital Art Invitational spotlights the digital art works of Robert Heron, Rudelle Fay Hall, Thomas Maglio and Maria Barga. In addition to art works, these digital artists will demonstrate to the public how digital art is created on computers.

The Foyer Gallery Solo Exhibitor is David Ganoe of Salisbury, MD. Dave Ganoe, a graduate of Gettysburg College and retired university administrator at Salisbury State University, began his formal study of photography while at Salisbury. He has attended the Cape Cod Photographic Workshops, The Rock Mountain School of Photography and the Maine Photography Workshops. Additional he has participated in three Calumet Photographic Workshops. The Calumet Workshops focused on black and white photography and creativity. While he has studied with noted photographers as Rod Dresser, Richard Newman, Les McLean and George DeWolfe, he found major influences on his work came from photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, John Wawrzonek and painter Georgia O'Keefe to name a few.

Photography has allowed him to explore his contemplative and spiritual bond with nature to demonstrate the interconnection between all things. Given our modern culture, we have grown distant from the Earth that sustains us. His hope is that his photographs will reveal the deep spiritual dimension in nature and help people rekindle their squandered intimacy with the "Great Mystery"

Entertainment will be provided by Musician and Guitarist, Jess Banner. Music became a part of Jess's life early on with rock n' roll from his parents band practices to bedtime lullabies. Banner was raised to express himself through music. A keyboard at age 10 laid the foundation for his musical skills. He picked up more instruments as time went on which now allows him to play all of the instruments featured in his original music to date. Banner is also an advocate for environmental issues. His strong desire for environmental relief is heard in the song "For How Long" from his debut album "Sunshine." He has also played environmental benefit concerts, and continues to spread his knowledge about environmental well being along with his heartfelt music. Jess Banner's deeply intricate, harmonically layered, and beautifully arranged music can be described as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin meets Coldplay, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

The 2011 Photography Show, the Digital Art Invitational an the Foyer Gallery exhibition of Dave Ganoe will hang from April 15 - May 13, 2011.

The Opening Reception is free to the public and will be a part of Salisbury's 3rd Friday events.

Fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Hospital

WHAT: A Workout for St. Jude event is warming up to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases, and the top children’s cancer hospital in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Members of Total Fitness Exercise and Nutrition Center will demonstrate, and maybe test, their conditioning during an exhibition to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sponsors will donate to the cause based on how much poundage is lifted by each participant (lbs x reps x sets). So a little weight done a lot can be as good as a lot of weight done a few times! Come down to Total Fitness in the revitalized Merchants Square and check it out! Samples will be given out of various nutrition products, prize for the participants and lots more.

WHEN: April 30, 2011

WHERE: Total Fitness
4401 Governor Printz Blvd.
Wilmington, DE 19810

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: Professional trainers will be on hand to answer questions.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: St. Jude depends on community-based fundraising programs like Workout for St. Jude. At St. Jude, families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance and no child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. The daily operating cost for St. Jude is $1.5 million, which is primarily covered by public contributions.

You and your four-legged friends are invited to join us for Back to the Boardwalk, DHA's 8th Annual Walk for the Animals at the Beach on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware! The two mile Walk is returning to the Boardwalk after relocating last year due to boardwalk construction. Registration begins at 11 am at Lake Avenue near the Henlopen Hotel, and the Walk begins at 12 noon.

Advance registration for adults is $25 per person and must be in by April 25th; adult registration is $35 per person after that date and on the day of the event. Individuals who raise $75 in pledges will receive a Walk for the Animals t-shirt; those who raise $250 will receive the t-shirt and a beach towel with the DHA logo. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the top two adult and youth individual fundraisers and the top adult and youth team fundraisers. An awards ceremony will take place shortly after participants return from the Walk. All people and canines are welcome!
