Newarks's 64th Annual Halloween Parade and Trick-or-Treating on Main Street

Newark’s Halloween tradition is set to take over downtown on Sunday, October 30. The Annual Halloween Parade kicks off onto Tyre Avenue at 3:00 p.m. and continues down Main Street to North College Avenue. All ghosts, goblins, princesses, fairies and all other Halloween characters are invited to invade downtown to safely celebrate Halloween. Following the Halloween Parade, costumed children blanket Main Street as they enjoy goodies and activities while safely walking from business to business during Trick-or-Treat Main Street. Main Street businesses are open for shopping and trick-or-treating while Main Street is closed to vehicular traffic throughout the event for the safety of the children. Academy Building Lawn is transformed into a pumpkin patch that is perfect for picture taking. Groups interested in participating in the parade need to contact the City of Newark Parks and Recreation Department at (302) 366-7060 for an application. Costumed individuals or families wanting to parade down Main Street may do so by checking in with Parks and Recreation staff at George Read Park (across from Newark High School) by 2:30 p.m. the day of the parade. In case of inclement weather, please call the Leisure Time Hotline at (302) 366-7147. There is no rain date for this event. Contact the Parks and Recreation Office for more information at (302) 366-7060 or 366-7033 ext. 200 after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends or visit
